Duties include stenographically recording criminal/civil trials and proceedings as well as all other matters heard before the Court. This 35-hour-per-week union position has a salary based on experience with increases after 6 months and 2 years of successful employment up to $75,400 with additional income earned by producing verbatim transcripts. The position includes full benefits of medical insurance and prescriptions, vision/dental, paid vacation, personal time, sick leave, 14 holidays, and participation in the County of Berks’ pension program. Court Technologist / Administrative Assistant to the President Judge (Court Reporter Certification Required Within 36 Months of Hire)

Position Overview The Huntingdon County Court of Common Pleas is seeking a qualified Court Technologist to support courtroom operations through digital recording, transcript management, and courtroom technology support. This position also serves as a structured developmental pathway to Certified Court Reporter.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain certification as a Court Reporter within thirty-six (36) months of the date of hire. During the certification period, the employee will perform Court Technologist duties and may assist with transcription and court reporting functions as permitted. Upon successful certification, the employee’s duties may expand to include full court reporting responsibilities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Court Technology & Recording Operations • Attend assigned court hearings and digitally record proceedings using the Liberty Court Recording system or other approved recording platforms. • Oversee daily courtroom technology operations to ensure all systems and services function properly. • Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot in-person, remote, and hybrid court proceedings using platforms such as Zoom and Polycom. • Provide technical assistance to judges, attorneys, and court staff during proceedings. Transcript & Record Management • Track and manage transcript requests, including coordinating transcription services and maintaining payment records. • Prepare dictated orders accurately and in a timely manner. • Assist with transcription of court proceedings in accordance with court policies and legal standards, as permitted prior to certification. Exhibits, Records & Administrative Support • Mark, label, store, and maintain custody of exhibits introduced during court proceedings. • Generate Exhibit Lists and file them with the appropriate court office. • Organize, maintain, and safeguard official court recordings, transcripts, and records. • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive court information. • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned. Certification Requirement & Advancement • The employee must obtain certification as a Court Reporter within thirty-six (36) months of hire. • Certification must be maintained in good standing thereafter. • Failure to obtain certification within the required thirty-six (36) month period may result in reassignment, disciplinary action, or separation from employment, in accordance with court and county policy. • Upon certification, the employee may assume expanded court reporting and stenographic duties, including the preparation and certification of official transcripts. Qualifications Required at Time of Hire • High school diploma or equivalent. • Demonstrated aptitude for courtroom technology, digital recording systems, and transcription support. • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines. Required Within 36 Months of Hire • Completion of an accredited court reporting program or equivalent formal training. • Active certification with the Pennsylvania Court Reporters Association (PCRA) and National Court Reporters Association (NCRA). Preferred • Experience with Liberty Court Recording, Zoom, Polycom, or similar courtroom technologies. • Familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures. • Experience using stenographic equipment and transcription software such as Luminex Writer and CATalyst.

Position Overview
The United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire is accepting applications for a full-time Official Court Reporter who possesses excellent organizational and customer service skills. The successful candidate will be industrious, creative, intelligent, diplomatic, energetic, forward thinking, dynamic, public service oriented and versatile with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential. Candidates will be expected to work in a team environment and possess the ability to interact with all segments of the legal community and public.
Representative Duties
- Court Reporter is responsible for the verbatim reporting of proceedings held before United States District Judges and Magistrate Judges and for the transcription of those proceedings on request.
- Court Reporter must be able to read back all or any portions of the court record, perform well under pressure, produce transcripts within strict time limitations, and work as part of a team of reporters for the Judges of the Court.
- Court Reporter must possess the knowledge, skill and ability to produce accurate, simultaneous Realtime translation utilizing their own software and equipment.
- Court Reporter must be familiar with and adhere to all requirements of the Management Plan for the Effective Utilization of Court Reporters for the District of New Hampshire and the Guide to Judiciary Policy, Volume 6.
- Court Reporter must comply with all administrative duties assigned by his or her manager and the Court.
- Court Reporter must adhere to the court unit’s internal control procedures.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least one year of court reporting experience in the freelance field of service or in other courts, or a combination thereof. Candidates must have qualified by testing for listing on the registry of professional reporters of the NCRA or passed an equivalent qualifying examination.

- Employees of the United States District Court are “at will” employees and are required to adhere to a Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees.
- The selected candidate will be subject to a background check (including references, criminal history, and credit history) as a condition of employment. The person selected for this position will also be required to submit fingerprints for an FBI background check. Employment will be considered provisional pending the successful completion of a ten-year background investigation.

The position requires verbatim reporting of deposition proceedings using a stenography machine and CAT software. You will turn in a final ASCII for each job. The subject matter of the depositions range from employment, to medical malpractice to False Claims Act, to personal injury work. No RealTime or Rough Draft requirements for this particular job (although we also have need of those services for other clients; feel free to inquire).

The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) is seeking a Grand Jury Reporter/ Stenographer for our Grand Jury Unit. In this position, the Grand Jury Reporter is responsible for taking confidential Grand Jury testimony, transcribing daily verbatim testimony introduced before the grand jury such as statement of witnesses, complainants and defendants.
Job Responsibilities:
- Take confidential verbatim testimony before a Grand Jury on a stenographic machine
- Transcribe CDs and/or videos and tapes for Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs)
- Ability to read back testimony from notes for Grand Jury and/or court proceedings
- Ability to recite back testimony from notes for Grand Jury
- Ability to transcribe testimony in a timely manner using Case Catalyst System for ADAs and Judge reviews
- Ability to keep accurate records and files of cases
- Use Case Catalyst System with personal dictionary to produce transcripts
- Ability to take dictation at the rate of 175 wpm on a stenographic machine
- The performance of other duties, as required
Education and Qualifications Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED required or an Associate's Degree in Court Reporting from an institution accredited by the National Court Reporters Association.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to take dictation at the rate of 175 wpm
Other requirements:
- At the time of the appointment interview, you will be required to demonstrate your proficiency to take two-voice dictation, using a stenotype machine, at the rate of 175 words per minute and to transcribe same.
